Luminous Neon is now Lumineo Signs

96-year-old sign company rebrands with a new name and identity

Hutchinson, Kan. — Luminous Neon Art & Sign Systems, the 96-year-old commercial sign company with seven Kansas locations, has merged the words “Luminous” and “Neon” to forge its new name: Lumineo. How to say it? Emphasize the hard e: Loo-min-EEE-oh.

Owner Mike King, who purchased the company in November 2023, said the new name honors and builds upon the successful history of the company, while suggesting a bright future ahead.

This company has a rich legacy, and our previous name served us well for nearly a century.”

“This company has a rich legacy, and our previous name served us well for nearly a century,” King said. “But as sign technology and the world around us continue to change, so must we. Exciting things are underway, and this new name suggests a bright and brilliant future.”

Lumineo retains its 65 employees and seven operating locations in Wichita, Olathe, Lawrence, Topeka, Salina, Dodge City, and Hutchinson, including its main fabrication plant and administrative offices.

President/CEO Joe Ontjes said that, unlike the name, the faces behind Lumineo are not new.

This same team will enable Lumineo to continue to grow and pursue its full potential.”

“With more than 100,000 projects completed, our team made us who we are today,” Ontjes said. “These sign professionals are responsible for some of the best-known projects across Kansas, Missouri, and beyond. This same team will enable Lumineo to continue to grow and pursue its full potential as a trusted partner for some of the region’s most respected organizations.”

Gardner Design in Wichita assisted with the rebranding of Lumineo Signs.
